No Wonder I Don’t Go to the Movies

I rarely go to the movies and when I do I try for a matinée and don’t purchase concessions.  Friday night, the boyfriend and I decided to see Gnomeo & Juliet at the theater.  Unfortunately, the only time that worked for us was the 3D theater.  We decided to do it anyway, as we haven’t “gone out” for quite some time.

OMG…..$21 for the two of us!  Luckily, the boyfriend had a $10 gift certificate so it ended up being $11.  Still way too much in my opinion.

Then…I offered to pay for snacks.  Like I said, I rarely, if ever, purchase concessions.  This time I decided I would, just as a treat.  Nope, not doing that again.  $14 for a small pop and Junior Mints for me, and a medium popcorn and medium pop for the boyfriend.

Total for a two-hour evening out = $35.  So not worth it.  If I get the bug again to “go out”, I better make sure it is a matinée and sneak my own food into the theater.  Boyfriend won’t do that, he really has a thing for movie theater popcorn.  He is on his own for that!

I love going to movies. That being said I only go on average 3 to 4 times a year. I TRY to get there during the matinee, and we rarely by concession. My wife has a big purse. haha.

You’re so right! I totally missed the transition from “movies are a fun and inexpensive night out” to “you’ve got to be loaded to afford a night at the movies”!
