Back from Ohio

Last weekend I took a small vacation of four days in Columbus, OH.  It was a blast, my boyfriend and I had two full and two half days of nothing but Board Gaming.  Every geek girl’s dream, well, mine anyway.  We attended the Origins Game Fair for the first time and had so much fun we started planning for next year while we were still there.

We budgeted for the trip to some extent, however, we really had no idea how much it was going to cost us in the end.  I came home with cash in my pocket, which is always a good sign at the end of a vacation!

Everything turned out to be better and cheaper than we had planned, except for the food.  We booked our room at the Hyatt, thinking it was down the street.  Turned out, it was attached and we never had to leave the building to get to the convention center.  We left a total of twice the entire weekend to find cheaper food.  When we booked the room only a double was available, which was disappointing, since we were looking forward to a king.  Luck was on our side and the hotel asked us to “do them a favor” and take a king room instead!  At a 30% discount!!! Hooray.  Not to mention, while the room was small, it was awesome.

We didn’t spend much time in the room, as there were too many games to be played and subsequently purchased.  But, I’ll save that for another post.
